Common use
Aristocort (triamcinolone acetonide) is a medium-to-high potency corticosteroid used topically to treat eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergic skin reactions, and other skin issues.
It helps decrease inflammation, redness, and itching by interfering with the immune response in the skin. It is typically used for short periods to control flare-ups.
Dosage and direction
Apply Aristocort cream or ointment as directed by your doctor - usually 1 to 4 times per day depending on the severity and condition being treated.
Use only a thin layer. Avoid applying to large areas or using for extended periods unless told by your doctor.
Do not cover the area with bandages unless instructed. Wash hands after use unless treating hands.
Precautions
Before using Aristocort, tell your healthcare provider if you:
Have skin infections
Are diabetic
Have poor circulation or thinning skin
Are pregnant or breast-feeding
Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not use on face, groin, or underarms unless specifically directed.
Prolonged use can cause thinning of the skin or hormone-related problems.
Contraindications
Do not use Aristocort if you:
Are allergic to triamcinolone or any other corticosteroids
Have untreated skin infections
Have recently received live vaccines
Not suitable for children under 2 years unless prescribed. Avoid long-term use in elderly without regular evaluation.
Possible side effects
Common side effects include:
Mild burning, itchng or irritation at application site
Dry skin
Acne-like breakouts
More serious (but rare) side effects:
Stretch marks
Skin thinning or discoloration
Increased hair growth
Hormonal imbalnce (with extended use)
Notify your doctor if you experience severe irritation or signs of allergic reaction.
Drug interactions
Triamcinolone may interact with:
Other topical steroids
Immune-suppressing medications
Diabetes medications (may affect glucose control)
Avoid using harsh skincare products or irritants on the same area.
Missed dose
If you forget a dose, apply it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the application.
Overdose
Long-term or excessive use can cause skin damage and systemic steroid effects. If large amounts are used or swallowed, seek medical help immidiately.
Storage
Keep Aristocort at room temperature (68° - 77°F / 20° - 25°C), away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

In the United States, Aristocort is FDA-approved and available by prescription only. It is classified as a medium- to high-potency corticosteroid, and its use is strictly regulated to avoid potential misuse and adverse effects.
